A lot of customers ask me what is the best way to remove surf wax from their boards before applying our surf traction pads. So, here is a simple step by step instructions on how to remove that dirty wax from your surfboard :D

Heat
-
Scrape

Apply
It’s really simple and despite the work, remember, with Van der Waal probably it’s the last time you will be doing that Daniel San wax on-wax off job.
HEAT YOUR SURFBOARD
Start off by getting the top of your surfboard warmed up so the wax can easily be removed. 10-15 minutes in direct sunlight should do it. A hair drier can also do the job, but remember to apply the heat on a low setting in order to not damage your surf board.
SCRAPE THAT OLD WAX
Once the old wax has softened up, you can scrape off the majority of it with your wax comb. Here is where the flour can help you. A lot. Just sprinkle the flour onto the softened wax and as the flour binds to the melted wax and turns into a flakey, non-stick material, makes it really easy to sweep up afterwards.
You can use acetone (in low quantities) if you want to get it 100% fresh, wax-free shiny look. Just dab your paper towel in acetone and rub it on your board.
APPLY OUR SURF GRIPS
And that's it. Your board will be ready to apply our surf traction pads and get a new clean look. You can check the video bellow on how to apply Van der Waal surf pads on your cleaned board
